Weekly Evidence Surveillance
Evidence Surveillance
Public health evidence surveillance underpins public health practice. The design and implementation of RGDU evidence surveillance activities aim to support early detection of public health threats, and guide the planning and implementation of interventions.
RGDU evidence surveillance activities involve the collection and analysis of public health related information conducted to generate knowledge that is relevant to populations and settings within the Irish context or contributes to new knowledge about specific health conditions. As part of these surveillance activities, RGDU team members conduct weekly evidence surveillance of identified national and international websites and databases:
- to ensure a prompt response to new and emerging evidence, and
- to identify if relevant research and/or guidelines may directly impact Irish health protection guidance.
