Dr Greg Martin was appointed National Clinical Lead for Health Protection Surveillance in November 2022.

Dr Martin has previously worked as the Clinical Lead for the HSE’s Contact Management Programme (CMP). Dr Martin is also the Chief Editor of the journal Globalization and Health. He has previously worked as the portfolio manager for TB at the World Health Organization (WHO), as the Director for Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV at the Clinton Health Access Initiative and as the Head of Science and Research at the World Cancer Research Fund.

Dr Martin studied medicine at University of the Witwatersrand, and received an MPH from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2004. Dr Martin completed his Higher Specialist Training in Public Health Medicine through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He also holds an MBA from the University of South Africa and has diplomas in both Economics and Strategic Management.
