HIV/STIs increase in gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men (gbMSM): National Outbreak Response Group
In response to the national increase in Ireland of HIV and other STIs seen in gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) since 2015, a national multisectoral, multidisciplinary outbreak response group was established in early 2016 and met regularly until September 2018. The group included representation from the Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme, STI and Infectious Disease services, Public Health Departments, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, laboratory services, the Gay Health Network, HSE Gay Men's Health Services, and Positive Now. It published regular epidemiology reports and an evidence based action plan. The Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme will continue to monitor gbMSM sexual health and progress in implementation of the actions.
