HPSC launches new Integrated Respiratory Virus bulletin for Winter season
Interactive access to weekly data for seasonal respiratory viruses circulating in Ireland this Winter is available in the new Integrated Respiratory Virus (IRV) bulletin.
The IRV bulletin reports on COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and other respiratory viruses (ORVs) circulating in Ireland this winter in a single interactive report. HPSC and surveillance partners operate several integrated programmes which monitor cases of COVID-19, influenza, RSV and ORVs simultaneously.
Replacing previous reports in which COVID-19 data was published separately, this new integrated bulletin provides a comprehensive picture of the overall impact of these viruses on the population and health service.
The IRV bulletin is interactive and makes it easy to compare week on week trends of flu, COVID-19 and RSV.
The weekly bulletin will be published during the winter surveillance season. New features will be added to the bulletin in the coming weeks.
What will the new IRV bulletin do?
- Provides data on COVID-19, influenza, RSV and other respiratory viruses in one place.
- Communicates weekly data on trends and key epidemiological features for seasonal respiratory viruses monitored in Ireland.
- Represents a change in the way HPSC delivers data to stakeholders and the public.
- Improves how data are displayed.
This new bulletin has been designed to benefit users by including new epidemiological information not previously available in HPSC’s weekly reports on seasonal respiratory viruses. The bulletin is a valuable resource for anyone working on or interested in the epidemiology of seasonal respiratory viruses in Ireland.
The bulletin is yet another advancement in the way HPSC displays the data we collect. It will inform and guide health service prevention, preparedness and response to protect the Irish public from seasonal respiratory viruses.
