Public health risks related to communicable diseases during the Hajj 2017
The latest ECDC Rapid Risk Assessment document is to address public health risks related to communicable diseases during the Hajj 2017, Saudi Arabia 30 August – 4 September 2017. More than one million pilgrims travel yearly to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. International mass gatherings can pose a risk for communicable disease outbreaks and global spread of infectious diseases. The aim of the ECDC Rapid Risk Assessment document is to assess the potential health risks related to communicable diseases and other health threats for European citizens during their stay in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage.
