Guidelines for the prevention and control of multi-drug resistant organisms, excluding MRSA in the healthcare setting in Ireland have recently been produced by a multi-disciplinary subcommittee of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland (RCPI) Clinical Advisory Group on Healthcare-Associated Infections & Antimicrobial Resistance. The guidelines address the prevention and control of vancomycin resistant enterococci (VRE), resistant Enterobacteriaceae, including extended spectrum β lactamase (ESBL) producers and carbapenemase producers and multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumanii.

The guidelines are available here.
