Eliminating measles – personal stories

Published:

To coincide with European Immunisation Week (21-27 April), the Euronews TV channel is broadcasting a short documentary on measles in Europe. The documentary was produced with the support of ECDC.

The documentary includes patient stories of families in France and Germany.

Summary
  • The 9-10 minutes long video tears down the idea that measles is an innocent virus: viewers will witness firsthand how widespread and serious the disease can be, as interviewed patients report on the complications they suffer from.

  • The episode shows measles victims from France and Germany struck by encephalitis or SSPE, a fatal disease, and experts explain the need for a mass scale vaccination programme.

  • The science video (in the format of the TV magazine Futuris) is available free of charge and available in ten languages: Arabic, English, Farsi, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
