IPC and AMR eLearning foundation programme

A new infection prevention and control (IPC) and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) eLearning foundation programme is now available on the HSE elearning platform at https://www.hseland.ie.

The IPC and AMR eLearning foundation programme has been designed to support health and social care staff to protect themselves, the people they care for and their colleagues from the spread of infection and is aligned to the Interim Guidance on Infection Prevention and Control for the HSE 2021

The programme contains a short introductory overview of infection prevention and control followed by 7 modules covering key topics in line with the current guidance:

  • Introduction
  • Basics of Infection Prevention and Control
  • Standard and Transmission-based Precautions
  • Hand Hygiene
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Respiratory and Cough Etiquette
  • Aseptic Technique
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship

The course is accredited and each of the 7 learning modules has been assigned 2 continuing education points from the RCPI and 1 CEU from the NMBI on completion.
