Gonorrhoea: Electronic Health Record Surveillance Project

Data were collected as part of the ECDC funded Electronic Health Record – Sexually Transmitted Diseases (EHR-STI) project. This pilot project aims to implement a novel gonorrhoea surveillance system based on automatic extraction, cleaning, validation, analysis, reporting and sharing of health data stored electronically in health information systems.

A sentinel system was designed to collect additional demographic clinical and behavioural data on gonorrhoea infections from Gay Men’s Health Service (GMHS). Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) are a key population impacted by STIs, with gonorrhoea disproportionately affecting gbMSM.

This infographic provides a summary of demographic, clinical and behavioural data collected on gonorrhoea positive cases notified to the Computerised Infectious Disease Reporting (CIDR) system and reported from GMHS from November 2025 to July 2026.
