Clean hands! Posters for children and teens

Published:

HPSC has developed some new posters and information to promote hand hygiene messages to children and teenagers. Hand hygiene is a key factor in reducing the spread of COVID-19. The posters will act as a reminder to children, staff and parents to clean their hands in schools and child care services. A hand hygiene video aimed at younger children is available on www.hse.ie/coronavirus

The new hand hygiene posters complement the respiratory etiquette posters that we developed earlier this year. They are aimed at assisting staff in schools and child care services to highlight some of the key respiratory hygiene and hand hygiene messages. You can order the posters from HealthPromotion.ie The posters are printed in Irish on one side and English on the reverse.

There is also a useful online resource www.e-bug.eu/ that could be helpful for services that provide early learning. e-Bug is a free educational resource for classroom and home use, it is available in over 30 languages including Irish. It enables fun and accessible learning for all children around micro-organisms, hand hygiene, the spread, prevention and treatment of infection. There are sections on:

  • detailed lesson plans
  • fun worksheets
  • animations
  • activity demonstrations

The www.HSE.ie/coronavirus site has the latest public information on COVID-19. The HSE Under the Weather website has been updated www.undertheweather.ie and has information on managing common illnesses. The website focuses on reducing the use of antibiotics and empowering people to self-manage simple illnesses such as colds, coughs, sore throat, ear ache, rashes and flu.
