Winter Preparedness

Winter can be a challenging time for the health service and our winter planning activities ensure we are best prepared to keep the public safe.

The national Winter Planning & Response Forum (WPRF) was formed in September 2024 to enhance preparedness to respond to health protection threats and strengthen resilience within the health and care system during the winter months.

The WPRF brought partners from across Community Support Teams, AMRIC, National Health Protection – including the Health Protection Surveillance Centre and National Immunisation Office, Irish College of General Practitioners, Laboratory Services and Regional Public health together ensuring an effective response to a multi-pathogen winter.
