Influenza and Schools
Schools play a critical role in protecting the health of their students, staff, and the community from contagious diseases, such as influenza, generally referred to as flu. In our Seasonal Influenza Advice for Schools there is advice for teachers, parents and pupils on how to prevent the spread of flu.
You can help prevent the spread of flu by practising good respiratory hygiene and good hand hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of tissues immediately as household rubbish in the normal way. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow or shoulder, not into your hands. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing.
