Guideline Development
Guideline Development
Numerous frameworks for guideline development exist both internationally and nationally that aim to standardise practices in developing guidelines. The GIN-McMaster Guideline Development Checklist is an evidence-informed tool that consists of 18 topics and 146 items which can be adapted to local contexts (Schünemann et al., 2014). The RGDU aims to utilise the GIN-McMaster GDC during the process of developing guidelines. It is an evidence-informed, standardised, rigorous and transparent checklist that provides direction to guideline developers and supports the development, implementation and evaluation of guidelines. The comprehensive items in the checklist also serve as a minimum set of standards required to plan and track the progress of guideline development as a complementary tool or a manual for guideline development (See figure 1).
