National Serosurveillance Programme - Data processing information

What data do we collect?
For each specimen, the participating laboratory assigns a new unique identifier (SEU ID) and collects the date of specimen collection, date of birth, sex, and county of residence from the laboratory information system (LIMS). Then the laboratory irretrievably unlinks the specimens from personal identifiers on the laboratory LIMS. This means that it is not possible to link back the specimen to any identifiable information. No personal identifiers from the laboratory LIMS are included in the data that is provided by the laboratory to the NVRL or the SEU. The data held by the National Serosurveillance Programme is not personally identifiable. It is anonymised.

How do we use the data?
The SEU ID, date of specimen collection, date of birth, sex and county of residence are sent securely electronically by participating laboratories to the HPSC SEU. Only the SEU ID and date of sample collection are sent with the specimen in a sealed package by courier to the NVRL.
