Guidance
The consultation period for this document closed on 26th August 2011. A final revised version of the document is now being prepared.
Draft revised guidelines for control and prevention of CJD in Irish healthcare settings have been developed by a working group of the HPSC Scientific Advisory Committee. The working group recommends that Irish healthcare settings apply the current UK guidance on control and prevention of CJD and other TSEs. Where aspects of the UK TSE guidance are not applicable to Irish healthcare settings, due to differences in legislative requirements, health structures or differences in population risk of disease exposure, the working group has made specific recommendations, or referenced the corresponding Irish legislation/guidelines.
The current UK CJD guidelines are available from: http://www.dh.gov.uk/ab/ACDP/TSEguidance/index.htm
